5 Mental Health Benefits Of A Nature Walk

“Just being surrounded by bountiful nature, rejuvenates and inspires us.”

Hello!! Welcome back to Goals & Good Vibes! Since yesterday marked the first official day of spring, I figured I would make a nature post today. I love being outside. I try to make it a priority in the warmer months as much as I can. But did you know aside from all the physical health benefits of going on a nature walk, there are actually a ton of mental health benefits too? Here are 5 Mental Health Benefits Of A Nature Walk. Happy Spring! 🙂

1. Better mood

Researchers have shown spending time in nature promotes positive moods and boosts wellbeing.

2. Helps unplug & be present

Removes the “noise” of everyday life. Listen to the noises of wildlife around you. It’s a good way to disconnect and stay in the present moment instead of being on your phone. A quote I came across & loved that I don’t know who wrote it but it was, “There is no wi-fi in the forest but we promise you will find a better connection.”

3. Reduces anxiety and depression

Taking a 30 minute walk in nature can lower the level of cortisol, known as the stress hormone; which help to lower your blood pressure and heart rate.

4. Increases creativity

Nature inspires creative thinking. One study found that spending time in nature prompts “expansive thinking” which can lead to innovative ideas.

5. Boosts energy & productivity

When you’re so tired and the last thing you want to do is take a walk, take a walk. It will give you an energy boost. It will also reduce mental fatique and improve your attention; making you more productive.
