I talk about self-love a lot because it’s something I’ve been working on and learning how to do for many years and realize it’s going to be a constant practice. Intentionally doing things that are going to help me become the best version of myself (always trying to grow/learn) & taking care of my overall wellness (body, mind, and soul.) You can read more about the 10 Ways To Practice Self-Love that I shared a few posts back, but if you click on that link it will take you right there. Treat yourself with the love you deserve, and from the best source: yourself. Self-love opens you up to a world full of possibilities. Here are the 4 benefits that came to my mind. You won’t love yourself after one hot bubble bath and a few affirmations, cause you don’t get anywhere without putting in the work.. but wouldn’t you say a journey towards self-love is worth actively pursuing? You are plenty capable of creating a healthier relationship with yourself.
1. Increases happiness and confidence
When we accept ourselves and love ourselves for who we are, it’s said to be linked to our overall perception of happiness with life by helping us see the world in a brand new light. If you’re constantly nitpicking all of your flaws, and criticizing everything you do, it’s going to be pretty hard to be happy with yourself. So remember, you’re human. Embrace your imperfections and give yourself acceptance for every inch of what uniquely makes you YOU!
2. Improves your relationships
When you love yourself, you won’t depend on other people to validate your worth; You will already know it. You’ll be able to set necessary boundaries, because you set the standard for how you allow others to treat you. Set it high as the sky. Know you’re worth and don’t settle for less! You don’t need to tolerate toxic relationships. Having a clear sense of self will also eliminate any need for insecurity, or jealousy in a relationship; which is a relationship killer. It will allow you to appreciate and accept others a lot easier once your in a place of self acceptance yourself. You’ll just know you’re value and know that if someone else can’t see it, they aren’t the people you need or should want in your life.
3. Improves motivation and productivity
When you’re lacking energy or don’t have the will power to do anything productive, think about if you are taking care of yourself or not. When you become more self aware, you’ll be more likely to feel when you need to slow down or take a break. Burnout is the killer of productivity. Set aside time for self-care practices in your day or find somewhere quiet to go if you need somewhere to breathe and unwind. Making it a priority taking care of yourself is an important way to show yourself love.
4. Improves your health, mindset, and personal growh
When you set out on a journey of self-love; It will inevitably promote self-growth that will give you a clearer understanding of yourself, be content with yourself & life, give you the power to quit your bad habits, help you let go of relationships that are toxic, and want to become the best version of yourself.
