“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
Happy Monday! Welcome to Goals & Good Vibes! I wanted to disclaim that I’m in no way an expert on positivity or self improvement. Nonetheless, I don’t think one has to be an expert in order to spread positivity. The amount of times an (undisclosed toxic family member) took shots at me for what I post and it not being “how I really am” or whatever insult I would get for pursuing one of my childhood dreams. Literally called me a child for blogging lol. I was told it wasn’t worth it because I didn’t make any money and here I was paying to keep my website active..I’ve shared that before..but if you’re new..hang in there, because there’s relevance to what I’m about to talk about.
I’ve actually always been this way and wanting the world to be more positive. We really could even take a look at the old statuses I used to post. I look back at them now in my memories on facebook and think to myself- “I used to be so deep.” That family member was trying to project themselves onto me. It didn’t work, because here I am. Didn’t give up yet. Probably not going to. I even have more strength within myself because I started talking to the one true creator God.
It’s actually crazy to me how energy can be transferred..after awhile you start to feel the way others say you are. Especially if it’s someone who’s supposed to be close to you. All that negativity isn’t mine and I don’t claim ownership of it. I know what mood I’m in when I wake up, I know what goes on in my head and heart, and I know my intentions. That’s all that matters. My truth is important to me, because I definitely have been labeled so many things in my life and treated unfairly, that it never really felt right. It didn’t align with what I felt I gave to others and how much I knew I cared. I would also like to say for anyone struggling, that just because you react to bad treatment doesn’t mean anything’s wrong with you. Imagine filling up a tire with too much air..in this case you are the tire and the air is toxicity, negativity, devaluing.. that tire is going to explode if it gets to be too much. Although that is the reaction they want from you..so my best advice is to find a way to release your emotions so you don’t let it build up and you can stand in your power and not be swayed by how others perceive you. Stay firm in who you are and keep shining that light, no matter WHO is trying to dim it. You may not even know that what you do has the power to give someone else hope on their path.
“Be a light unto this world; a source of wisdom & inspiration. Use your presence to bring joy to those around you. And let your life be proof that good people do exist.”
-Luminita D. Saviuc
There is something to be said about those who can take their pain or other people’s negative words and transmute it into fuel to be kinder people instead of letting it make them bitter. Being a light is equivalent to just being a genuine person I would say. Not judging others, leading by example, praying for others, complimenting others, being a good listener, supporting others dreams, validating people’s emotions, offering help, being yourself, being kind, being patient, having empathy, smiling at strangers, being understanding, being uplifting.
It’s never too late to work on those things. We all go through things and sometimes the light in you does dim for a period of time because nobody else has been a light for you and you kind of lose hope. That’s why it’s so very important to be a light to others in the first place. You have no idea what someone’s going through and what a difference it could make by being a genuinely good human being in this world. Get back up as many times as you need to.
